Location

The villa is part of an estate situated in Castelfranco di Sotto, halfway from Pisa and Lucca.

With Florence, Siena, Arezzo and Pisa, Lucca is one of the mayor Tuscan cities of art. In the past an important Latin colony, Lucca still features some elements that characterised the Roman towns, such as the elliptical form of Piazza dell'Anfiteatro and the plan based on two main perpendicular roads: the "cardo" and the "decumanum".

Lucca is renowned all over the world for its city walls, which were erected between the early 16th and the mid-17th century, and are considered some of the most well-preserved ones in Europe. Nowadays, they have been transformed into a charming promenade.

Because of the many buildings of worship it houses within its city walls, Lucca is also known as the "hundred-church town". The most important are the cathedral of San Martino and the churches of San Giovanni and Santa Reparata, San Michele in Foro and San Frediano.

Various events are held every year in Lucca. The most renowned are certainly Lucca Comics and Games, Italy's most important event dedicated to comic books, animation and gaming, and the Lucca Summer Festival, during which worldwide famous artists perform in the squares of the town.

Description

Situated atop a hill in the Tuscan countryside, the 19th-century farmhouse transformed into a beautiful country villa is surrounded by a wide fenced garden shaded by century-old trees.
A few metres from the building lies the private swimming pool (11x5.50 m; depth: 1-3 m). The pool side is furnished with deck chairs and sun loungers.
A spacious loggia is furnished with tables and chairs for outdoor dining.
An ancient wood-burning oven and the barbecue equipment are at guests' disposal.

The villa stands at an almost equal distance from Lucca, Pisa and Florence, which are easily reached by car. A stay at the villa will be an excellent opportunity to visit also less-renowned towns, such as Certaldo, Vinci and Montelupo Fiorentino, as well as San Gimignano, Volterra and the Chianti district.
