Other Folkloric Events in Siena

Siena is not only the Palio! That should be clear to everyone.
If you decide to rent a holiday apartment or villa in Siena for one or more weeks, you will soon find out that many other folkloric events take place there.

From the celebrations of Saint Catherine`s day (April 29th) - the patron saint of Italy and Europe was born in Siena - to the Festa dei Tabernacoli (September 8th), when the 17 contrade vie with each other in the decoration of the tabernacles of their district, to the feast of Saint Lucy (December 13th), the patron saint of Siena, with the picturesque bell market.

You are not convinced?
Just imagine what spending a New Year`s Day or your Easter holidays in Siena could like.

Are you a food-and-wine lover? Well, you are just spoilt with choice. A holiday in Siena between March and April will coincide with the Settimana Nazionale dell`Olio (National Olive-Oil Week), during which you will have the opportunity to taste and buy some of the many varieties of the Italian "green gold". If you have decided to spend your holidays in the town of the Palio between May and July, you will have the opportunity to visit the "Settimane dei Vini" - that is, weeks dedicated to several wines - (do not forget to read the page "Siena, the Town of Wine").

Last but not least, do not forget the many feasts and events that take place all over the year in the entire province: truffle, honey, "pecorino" cheese, "pici", "cinta"... are the indisputable protagonists of mouth-watering events in Siena and in its province.
