Location

The apartment is located close to the marvellous basilica of Santa Croce, in the homonymous district, in Florence historic centre.

The basilica to whom the district owes its name houses the tombs of many illustrious personages of Italy (Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo, Rossini and many other), as well as frescoes by Giotto and works by Cimabue, Donatello, Vasari, Verrocchio, Bronzino, Della Robbia and Ghiberti. The celebrated Pazzi Chapel was designed by Brunelleschi.

Every year, in June, the square in front of the basilica hosts the matches of the famous "calcio storico", also known as "calcio in costume" (players wear a medieval garb): Santa Maria Novella (whose colour is red), San Giovanni (whose colour is green), Santa Croce (whose colour is azure) and Santo Spirito (whose colour is white).

Situated on the first floor of a 15th-century building without elevator whose façade is decorated with a fresco dating back to the first half of the 17th century, the elegant apartment has a lacunar ceiling with exposed wood beams.

The street markets of Piazza dei Ciompi and Sant'Ambrogio are in proximity to the apartment. All the most important Florentine monuments and museums, including the Duomo and Baptistery, Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria with Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, the basilica of San Lorenzo and the Church of Santa Maria Novella are within easy walking distance.
