The most beautiful palaces in the Oltrarno district

As you walk along the Oltrarno streets, during your holidays in Florence, you will happen to see gran palaces with richly decorated facades and refined structures. You have no doubt already heard about the Pitti Palace, but in Oltrarno the list of important buildings and rich in history is long.

If your stay in Florence is not very long, save some time for a visit to the Pitti Palace. Among all teh museums and collections it houses you can`t but find something interesting. If you are in Florence in the spring or summer time, it might be a good idea to visit the Boboli Garden to spend some time immersed in the greenery.

If you enter the Oltrarno from Ponte alle Grazie, you`ll see the tower of the Mozzi Palacestanding out. The outlook of the palace definitely reminds of a small fortress and actually it was built here in defence of the nearby bridge.

If you are strolling along nosing around the shop windows of the several antique stores, stop in front of the Bianca Cappello`s Palaceto admire its finely decorated facade. The palace takes the name from its tenant, Bianca Cappello, lover of the grand duke Francesco I.

You can see the Capponi Palace also from the other side of the Arno river: indeed the buikding is on the lungarno (along the river). The facade you see on this side has been restored in the nineteenth century; the facade that looks via dei Bardi is in full reinassance style.
