Filippo Strozzi wanted his new residence to be bigger than that of his rivals, the Medici family. He then presented to Lorenzo the Magnificent some modest plans. It was Lorenzo who suggested that Filippo should build a more majestic
Palazzo. The foundations were laid in 1489.
Today, Palazzo Strozzi houses some offices and art exhibitions.
