The churches nearby the Duomo



Florence has a rich legacy of churches. Also nearby the Duomo there are some, minor of course but not less interesting in terms of hisotry and achitecture. If your apartment on Florence is right in the city centre or if are walking around the Duomo, just take a glance to visit the nearby chucrches as well.

If you are strolling along via Calzaiuoli, halfway between the Duomo and Piazza Signoria , you`ll see the large building of the Church of Orsanmichele . The very external facades are spectacular; inside the church you`ll be able to admire the wonderful Madonna delle Grazie tabernacle. Do you happen to be fond of classical music? Take a glance at the concert schedule of the church: the entrance is free and the setting is absolutely exceptional.

Almost across the street form the Bargello Museum, there is the Church of Badia Fiorentina . The entrance to the church is in via del Proconsolo: as soon as you get in, look for the fresco ”Apparizione della Madonna a San Bernardo” by Filippino Lippi and the inner closter. From here you`ll have a fantastic view of the hexagonal belltower.
